New Caboolture Mental Health Services on track | Sunshine Coast Queensland

Construction of the new $22.4million Caboolture Mental Health Unit (MHU) is on track to provide locals with more services sooner and closer to home.

During a site visit today Minister for Health Geoff Wilson said the new facility was part of the Queensland Labor Government's plan to expand Mental Health facilities across the state.

"The Caboolture MHU is one of 17 projects funded under the $148.3 million Mental Health Infrastructure Plan," he said.

"The importance of services like these cannot be underestimated with roughly 1 in 5 Queenslanders experiencing a mental illness each year.

"When it opens in 2012 the MHU will give locals access to highly specialised mental health care in a purpose-built, structured and supported environment
